Named after the Venerable Vital Grandin, first bishop of St. Albert, and acting under the pastoral direction of the Archbishop of Edmonton, the Vital Grandin Chaplaincy has the pastoral care of those faithful of the Edmonton Archdiocese who are attached to the former liturgical rites, called the extraordinary form of the Roman rite, or simply the Traditional Latin Mass.

The chaplaincy, which has been around for over 20 years, was known as the Edmonton Latin Mass Community until recently and since 2005 it has been served by the priests of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), a society of apostolic life of pontifical rite, established by St. John Paul II in 1988.

Throughout our existence we have continued to slowly grow, and even though we are still what some might consider a small group of devout faithful, we are now averaging 300 Sunday mass goers split between our two Sunday locations.

We welcome everybody and invite you to join us, so that together we may strive to increase in our spiritual lives, our virtues, and love of God through this most majestic of liturgies entrusted to us.

We look forward to meeting you!
